Bells
on Purses
An initiative
to raise awareness of purse safety the first was held in November
2005 followed by a further initiative in July 2006. Funding was
raised through the Community Safety Partnership. It is hoped that
this initiative can be held on a bi-annual basis. Initial figures
from the first initiative indicated a considerable reduction in
the level of purse thefts. |

World
Cup - Drink Drive Campaign
Burton Business
Crime Reduction Partnership took part in the 'Road Safety Week'
which ran from 5th - 9th June 2006 on the run up to the World
Cup.
The event
was organised by Dave Williams, Risk Reduction Officer for Staffordshire
Fire and Rescue Service, Staffordshire Police, East Staffordshire
Borough Council, Staffordshire County Council in partnership with
Burton Town Centre Management Ltd.
The main aims
of the event were to alert people to the dangers of drink driving
and promote responsible drinking. Police were asking people not
to drink and drive and to remind the public to use safety belts.
We took the
opportunity to promote Pubwatch and the exclusion scheme which
operates in the Town Centre.
Burton Albion,
a member of Pubwatch, also joined in to show their support. A
big thank you to Aaron Webster a player for the team who was on
hand to sign autographs.
